PICTURES!

I finally have uploaded all my pictures, I think.

Here is the link:

http://s569.photobucket.com/albums/ss134/kcmayer137/

To the left hand side you will see different albums including brighton, of montreal, thames river walk, etc.
Yesterday Robin, Lauren, and I went to Brighton for the Of Montreal concert. Brighton is such a cute little town! I definitely want to go back. AND they have a beach, but the sand is more like pretty large rocks ha. The Pier there is fun! It reminds me of Navy Pier in Chicago, but has more rides and entertainment like that. The concert was SO much fun! We were standing right in the front row and I felt so mature when I had the chance to drink a beer at a concert legally haha. Sorry Rach, don't need you anymore!

I hope you enjoy the pictures!
But now I have a bit of homework to do.

Crowds

There are so many people on the streets! Its crazy!
At the time I am at a cute little place called Pret. They have great sandwiches. But the reason I came here was for soup, their options weren't very appealing though. This place is so crowded like everything else. I sat at a small table for two, and some other lady is sitting here! People here don't care about personal space I guess. Its kind of nice though.

WELL.. I've caught some kind of bug like half of the other people from Ball State. Its just a cold, but I'm not letting it stop me from enjoying my time here!

On Monday we went on a river walk along the Thames. It is beautiful!!! We saw so many things, but the one that caught my attention most was the Tate Contemporary Art Museum. We only stopped for coffee, but that is one place I am going to go another day. I will hopefully be uploading pictures to photobucket soon! When I do, i'll attach the link.

Wednesday we went on our day trip to Warwick Castle and Stratford Upon Avon. Lets just say... it was a looooooooonnnggg day! At Warwick Castle they had some wax figures which were pretty cool. Like the queen! And they had a peacock garden.. with real peacocks!! They were so beautiful! Then at Stratford upon Avon we saw the "birthhouse" of William Shakspear and the house of Anne Hathaway. (which isn't the actress ha.) The last thing we did was see a Romeo & Juliet play. It was a really good production, but we were all very tired from being up since 7 am.

My classes seem pretty cool. We have to do a 20 minute presentation in Brit Literature though :( The history of british pop music seems really neat though.
Robin, Lauren and I have to leave our music class early one week because of Paris and we were so nervous he would be a little angry but he was like, "I'm so jealous!" and he told us about some places we have to go haha.

Tomorrow Robin, Lauren and I head out to Brighton to see Of Montreal! I can't wait! Well.. Robin might have to sell her ticket to someone else because she is really sick. We heard a lot of good things about Brighton though.
But we asked our bus driver what was the best way to get there. He was like.. Brighton, why are you going there, only gays go there. What concert are you seeing? Elton John?
This bus driver guy was a J_E_R_K i thought.

Well, until next time, miss you all!

My Flat

A bad picture of the street.

These are the girls I went out with last night. From left to right it goes...
Lauren, Bri, Kim, i forget her name, & Robin

This is our kitchen minus the fridge. That little hole on the bottom left is our washer.. and we have to dry our clothes in the living room.

This is our living room. Its good space for us all to hang out.

This is our bedroom. I have the top bunk. We have little room for the three of us.

I have a picture of the bathroom but... its just a bathroom.
Haven't done much today. A couple of us are at McDonalds at the time.
Everyone is just complaining about everyone else....

Madame JoJos

Last night a big group of us from Ball State met up at a pub, which was kinda boring...
I tried the cheapest beer which was something called IPA. It was not good.
Then Lauren and I decided to go to Piccadilly Circus to check out DA CLUBZ.
It was really what people have said.. its just like Times Square.
All the theater places are located there, bars, clubs, restaurants. It was quite neat.

We walked around for awhile and decided to go to this place called Madame JoJos. It was right next to a gay bar which I definitely want to go to sometime because there were DRAG QUEENS! haha. That would be an experience.

Madame JoJos was amazing though! It cost 8 pounds to get in which is dumb but thats the typical rate for a Friday. They played like funk, fun music to dance to. I had a blast and we were basically dancing the whole time. Everyone was so friendly too. It was just a good night, but to get in for 8 pounds.... its not going to happen much.

Then today Lauren, Robin, and I went to Portabello Market.
It was kind of what I expected. I didn't get anything.
I found the cutest dress form made out of wire.
There is no way I could ever get it home though.
There was one section containing a lot of fur coats, both faux and real.
And a lot of cute dresses.
It was so crowded, all different types of people, all different types of smells.
Raw meat in windows and out in the streets was a turn off.

Thats about it for the day. I'm very pooped from walking around all day.
I am also feeling a little homesick. I think thats because the flat we are in isn't very homey, I can't really talk to my friends, and I just want to be in my bed or by the fire because our flat is cold (the heat and hot water doesn't work well at all)

I still haven't found a library... maybe tomorrow because I don't have anything planned for then.
So maybe I will have some pictures up then!

Love you all!

One word: Hectic

Yes. Thats all it has been since the moment we arrived.
I have so much to tell you!!
I will start off with yesterday...
We arrived, got to our flats. They are TINY for 5 girls. There is no plug in the bathroom, or by any mirror for that fact, making it a little hard to do my hair. I'll survive though.
Funny thing about the toilet. We have to wait 5 minutes between each flush!
I totally wish i had a cell phone to call home! There have been so many things that I have wanted to tell different people but I cant!

We got our tube passes. Today we went on the tube. Its just like the subways in Chicago but a bit nicer. Everywhere is pretty clean I would say but a lot of trash residue.
Lauren, Robin, and I have our own little pub that we don't want to tell anyone else about. ha. The bartenders name is Alex but we call him Ally. I had my first pint. Everyone wants to go out at night. I wasnt really up for it last night or tonight. I'll have my time though.

Sidenote: I wont be able to upload pictures unless I go to the library because in the flats we have a MegaByte limit or something? idk, Robin already went over.

Today we went SHOPPING! Yes! Now that is wayyy too addicting here. I could never live here, oh wait, I am. But I dont know how I will stop myself. JUST KIDDING MOM! I got a faux fur vest.... that I have been wanting and it was super on sale! Jeans.. oh yes JEANS! Almost everyone wears skinny/straight legged jeans here... even the men. Its wonderful. So now I have found jeans that fit just the way I like & their all made like that. We stopped in TopShop which is an AMAZINGAMAZING store. Kind of like an H&M or Forever 21 but like 5000000000 X better! Everything in there is Kathy. AHH I just fell in love. And we went to this place that is super cheap. They have cute stuff but I feel like it is cheap in 2 ways if you catch my drift.
I really miss everyone! Its going to be weird just hanging out with these twenty some people. But we have meet some Londoners, who are all very nice! We went to the grocery and it all seemed very cheap. Its strange though because you see 3 pounds and think.. oh 3 dollars! but its not.

***I hope to have some pictures up soon... I feel pretty bad not having any, but once I find out where the library is I will be able to!***

Conclusion:
I love it here! Minus feeling like I am spending a lot of money. Our view from our flat is awesome! We can see the London Eye all lit up at night.
If you have any Qs about something I forgot to mention let me know!

LOVE, kathy
